The IQ Battery C80 is a name that appears in searches alongside the Enphase batteries UK householders are actually sold: the IQ Battery 5P, the 5P with FlexPhase and the IQ Battery 10C. Enphase publishes a data sheet for a C80, and its revision history records an initial release in April 2026, a SKU update in July 2026 and editorial updates in August 2026. What the manufacturer's own product and accessory pages document in detail, however, is the 10C and the 5P, not the C80.
That gap matters for anyone trying to buy on the strength of the name. The C80's capacity, power rating, warranty term and price are not set out in the material available here, so this page does not state them. What it can do is set out exactly what Enphase publishes about the accessories that surround these batteries, how the C80 name sits against the 10C, and what an Enphase system commits a household to once it is on the wall.
The short answer to the most common question is that the C80 is not documented as the same product as the IQ Battery 10C. Enphase's accessory pages, its UK installer comparison page and its system pages all name the 10C, the 10CS, the 5P and the 5P with FlexPhase. The C80 has its own document and its own SKU revisions, and nothing in the available material equates the two.
What's in the box: handles and control switches
The accessories that ship with and around these batteries are documented more precisely than the batteries themselves. The IQ Battery 10C Handles set includes one left-side and one right-side handle, and the IQ Battery 10C Control Switch set includes two control switches. Enphase states that both the handles and the control switches are designed to be reusable accessories, which is a practical point: they are installation tooling that stays with the installer rather than consumables that are thrown away with the packaging1.
The same two-handle logic runs across the range. The IQ Battery 5P Lifting Handles set is described in identical terms, as containing one left-side and one right-side handle, designed to be kept and used for multiple installations2. Enphase also sells a separate IQ Battery Lifting Handle, recommended for easier and proper mounting of an IQ Battery on a wall, and that page carries a login requirement to purchase3.
Conduit plates follow the same pattern. The IQ Battery 5P Conduit Plates kit includes one left-side and one right-side conduit plate, and provides replacements for the plates that come with an IQ Battery 5P, usable for quick field replacement if the originals are damaged or misplaced4. A replacement cover for the 5P with FlexPhase is described in the same way, as something that can be quickly replaced on site if the original is damaged or misplaced5.

The two-handle design: one left-side, one right-side

The left and right pairing is not cosmetic. Enphase describes the handles as required for lifting an IQ Battery 10C out of its box and mounting it on a wall or pedestal during the installation process1. That is a two-point lift on a unit being positioned against a wall, and the manufacturer's own wording treats the handles as a requirement of the job rather than a convenience.
The 5P handles carry the same description and the same reusability note2. The separate lifting handle product is recommended for easier and proper mounting of an IQ Battery on a wall3. Read together, the three pages describe a consistent method: a matched pair of handles, used by the fitting team, retained for the next job.
What the material does not give is a weight for any of these units. Without that, no claim can be made about whether one person can manage the lift. The manufacturer's language points to a handled, two-person operation, and the accessories exist precisely because the unit is not a one-hand carry.
Control switches: what the two switches are for
The control switches are the more interesting accessory, because they explain how the battery is commissioned and serviced. Enphase states that the switches can be used to turn the IQ Battery 10C units on and off during installation, and for troubleshooting without needing to install the battery's cover1. In other words, they let an installer or service engineer isolate a unit without opening it up and refitting the enclosure afterwards.
That is a serviceability feature rather than a household control. Day-to-day operation of an Enphase system runs through the app and the energy management layer. Enphase describes IQ Energy Management as managing the system by controlling when to use grid, solar and battery energy, and when to schedule energy-intensive appliances6. The batteries themselves are managed through the Enphase app, which the maker describes as putting tracking of energy used and saved a tap away7.
The distinction is worth holding on to. The physical switches belong to the installation and maintenance workflow. The app belongs to the household. Neither replaces the other, and a household that loses its internet connection does not lose the ability to run the battery, only the remote view of it.
How the C80 relates to the IQ Battery 10C

This is the question the name raises, and the honest answer is that the relationship is not established in the material available. Enphase's own pages name the IQ Battery 10C repeatedly and in specific contexts. The IQ Combiner 6C is stated to be compatible with the IQ Battery 10C and the IQ Meter Collar, and the same page says the combiner, together with IQ Microinverters, the IQ Meter Collar and the IQ Battery 10C, provides a complete, backup-capable Enphase Energy System8.
The 10C also has a documented launch. Enphase announced in August 2026 that homeowners with existing non-Enphase solar systems can add the IQ Battery 10C and whole-home backup without replacing their existing solar equipment, with support available through installation partners across the United States and Canada9. That is a North American announcement, and the UK position is different: the UK installer storage comparison page lists the IQ Battery 5P and the IQ Battery 5P with FlexPhase10.
The C80 sits outside all of that. It has a data sheet with a revision history, and the July 2026 revision updated SKUs from IQ-VT-80-V1-R1 to IQ-VT-80-V5-R3 and from IQ-VT-80-V2-R1 to IQ-VT-80-V6-R3. Nothing in the available material describes a C80 as a 10C, or gives the C80 a capacity, a power rating or a warranty term. Where a household is quoted a C80, the specification should be read from the current revision of that data sheet rather than assumed from the 10C.
Where the C80 sits in the Enphase range
The Enphase range that is documented for the UK is built around the 5P. The 5P is listed on the UK installer storage comparison page alongside the 5P with FlexPhase10. Its data sheet gives wall-mount or pedestal-mount options, wired control communication, a control cable designated CTRL-BL-EU-01, an IQ Gateway Metered designated ENV-S-EM-230, and an IQ System Controller 3 INT designated SC100G-M230-3P for backup operation11. The 5P with FlexPhase offers wall and floor mount options with left, right and rear conduit entry7.
The architecture underneath is consistent across the range. Enphase IQ Batteries are built on a distributed architecture platform, described as modular and flexible, and expandable with compatible batteries7. They are AC-coupled, which is what allows them to be added to an existing system rather than requiring a specific inverter12. They operate with low-voltage DC power13 and use lithium iron phosphate chemistry, which Enphase describes as safer and longer lasting14. The 5P is approved for installation both indoors and outdoors at temperatures from -20°C to 55°C15.
| Documented Enphase item | What the material states | Source |
|---|---|---|
| IQ Battery 5P | Listed on the UK installer storage comparison page | 10 |
| IQ Battery 5P with FlexPhase | Listed on the UK installer storage comparison page | 10 |
| IQ Battery 10C | Compatible with the IQ Combiner 6C and IQ Meter Collar | 8 |
| IQ Battery 10C | Addable to existing non-Enphase solar in the US and Canada | 9 |
| IQ Battery C80 | Data sheet revisions only; no capacity or warranty stated here |
The C80's position in that table is the point. It is a named product with a published document, and it is not placed anywhere in the range by the material available.
What owning an Enphase battery means for household energy independence
An Enphase battery changes where a household's electricity comes from, and it leaves several dependencies in place. On the independence side, the batteries store self-produced solar and low-priced grid energy for use or export when grid prices are high, which is how Enphase frames the benefit of adding a battery to its energy management system6. The system is modular, so capacity can be added as needs grow13, and the distributed architecture means the design can be expanded with compatible batteries7.
Backup is the part that varies most across the range. The IQ System Controller 2 automatically detects utility power outages and seamlessly transitions to backup power16. A sunlight backup system consists of IQ8 Series Microinverters, IQ System Controller 2, IQ Combiner 4C, up to 2 IQ Load Controllers and other accessories as needed, and can have up to 2 IQ Load Controllers controlling up to 4x 240V or 8x 120V loads16. The IQ Battery 10, an earlier generation, is documented with grid-forming capability for backup operation and compatibility with grid-tied PV systems, Enphase M215/M250 and IQ Series microinverters, the IQ System Controller and the IQ Gateway17.
The dependencies are equally clear. The system is managed through the Enphase app7, so monitoring and remote control run through a manufacturer's platform. Backup capability is not uniform: a support response on adding a 5P to an existing system notes that an older battery does not have microgrid capability in the way a 5P does18. And the batteries are AC-coupled12, which means the household remains connected to the grid and to a supplier for everything the battery does not cover. For a wider view of what storage can and cannot deliver, home batteries and household energy independence sets out the limits, and Enphase home batteries covers the range as a whole.
