Enphase Energy has issued a warranty for its storage systems covering Scotland, England and Wales, effective on or after 15 September 20251. The document sets out the terms for the Enphase IQ Battery 5P with FlexPhase alongside the IQ System Controller, IQ Gateway, IQ Combiner, communication devices and accessories listed in its Covered Products Schedule1.
The headline term for the battery is a limited warranty period ending on the earlier of 15 years from the Activation Date or 6,000 discharged cycles1. Enphase defines the Activation Date as the earlier of the date the product is registered with Enphase or the date it is activated at the original location through the installer portal1. The IQ System Controller carries a separate period of 10 years from the Activation Date, and one further category of covered product is listed at 5 years from the Activation Date1.
Two warranties run together. The workmanship warranty covers material conformity to specification and freedom from defects in workmanship and materials1. The capacity retention warranty commits the battery to store and discharge at least 70 per cent of its nameplate rating at the end of the tenth year of the limited warranty period, and at least 60 per cent at the end of the fifteenth year1.
"ends on the earlier of (a) 15 years from the Activation Date or (b) 6,000 discharged cycles."
Several conditions attach. The covered products must be continuously connected to the internet during the limited warranty period, except where interrupted by causes outside the owner's reasonable control, so that defects can be diagnosed remotely and firmware updates delivered1. Batteries activated after the "Energize by" date printed on the battery or its packaging are not covered1. The warranty applies only to product imported into the European Economic Area, Switzerland or the UK with Enphase's consent, and Enphase may refuse activation of product imported without it1.
Ownership can be transferred. A subsequent owner is treated as a covered owner provided the product stays at the original location, a completed Change of Ownership Form is submitted and the applicable transfer fee is paid within thirty days of the transfer1. Claims must be submitted during the limited warranty period and within ninety days of discovering the defect1. If a defective unit is not received by Enphase within sixty days of an RMA number being issued and a replacement has already shipped, Enphase will invoice the owner the then-current list price1. Returns made without an RMA, without all original parts, or that Enphase determines are not covered can attract a restocking fee equal to the higher of 15 per cent of the original purchase price or the retail value of missing parts1.
The warranty sits alongside statutory rights rather than replacing them. Enphase states it is governed by the laws of England, and that for goods purchased in England and Wales consumer rights expire six years from delivery, and for goods purchased in Scotland five years from delivery1. Enphase also states it is not committed or obliged to participate in dispute resolution before a consumer arbitration board1. Why it matters for households
A battery's warranty is the part of the purchase that determines how long the system is expected to hold value. The capacity retention figures give a household a stated floor for usable storage over time: 70 per cent of nameplate at year ten and 60 per cent at year fifteen1. Because the period ends at whichever comes first, 15 years or 6,000 cycles, a heavily cycled battery may reach the end of cover sooner than the calendar suggests. For a home using the battery daily, that distinction affects how many years of cover remain.
The continuous connectivity requirement links warranty cover to the system staying online, which matters for homes with unreliable broadband or where a system is taken offline1. The transfer provisions matter at the point a property is sold, since continued cover for a buyer depends on a form and a fee paid within thirty days1. The exclusion for batteries activated after the "Energize by" date is relevant to units bought and stored before installation1. Enphase has not reported UK pricing for the transfer fee or the restocking fee beyond the 15 per cent formula1.
What happens next
The warranty applies to product activated on or after 15 September 20251. Enphase directs owners to check its warranty page to confirm the correct warranty for a given product, and the Change of Ownership Form and payment instructions are published on its UK warranty page1. No end date for the terms has been reported1.
