Pod Point Limited has issued a new domestic product warranty statement, version 1.0, covering the Pod Point Solo 3S domestic electric vehicle charger purchased or hired on or after 21 May 20251. The document sets out the warranty period, the conditions a household must meet to claim, and the faults and circumstances it does not cover1.

The warranty period runs for 60 months for purchased Solo 3S units, whether the charger is installed and commissioned by Pod Point or its sub-contractors, or by a third party1. For units hired through a Pod Drive subscription, the warranty lasts for the life of that subscription1. The period begins from the date of installation, unless Pod Point has agreed a different start date in writing1. Repair or replacement does not extend the warranty period, and replacement products may be refurbished or contain refurbished materials1.

Pod Point states that the warranty guarantees the product will be free from any material fault or defect in functionality or operability for the warranty period, and that it will repair or replace a defective product at its discretion and free of material and labour charges1. Minor or purely aesthetic defects without impact on functionality are excluded1. To claim, the household must hold the original proof of purchase or hire, and the serial number or other identification markings on the product must be complete and undamaged1. The product must be installed and commissioned by Pod Point, its sub-contractors, or a competent and qualified installer in line with the installation guide, and used and maintained in line with the user guide1. If an owner arranges their own installer to carry out a repair, or does the repair themselves, the warranty is void from the date of that repair1.

Exclusions include installation or commissioning by a party other than Pod Point or its sub-contractors; opening, moving, modifying, tampering with, transferring or attempted repair by such a party; normal ageing and wear-and-tear such as discoloration or normal corrosion; faults from abnormal usage or environmental conditions; failure to connect and communicate with Pod Point servers over Wi-Fi or a 3G, 4G or 5G mobile network where the product is so enabled; faults caused by parts of the existing installation or electricity system, including consumer units, breakers, cables or an existing solar PV system; and accidental or malicious damage, theft, vandalism, floods, storms, earthquakes, fires, electrical outages, power surges, foreign material, contamination or other environmental influence1. Pod Point will not reimburse third party repair costs unless the work was authorised in advance and in writing1.

For Pod Drive subscription products, an engineer repair visit will be offered to take place no later than 48 hours from the time the visit is offered; for other products the visit takes place as soon as reasonably practicable1. The warranty is transferable to a new homeowner if the owner sells or vacates the property and leaves the product behind, and the remaining period continues rather than restarting1. If the owner moves the product to a new property, the remaining warranty is valid provided the product is removed, installed and commissioned by Pod Point or its sub-contractors after terms are agreed, and the new property remains in the country for which the product was purchased and intended1. The warranty does not transfer to a product sold or given to another person or company, or acquired from a private reseller or online resale platform, except under that move provision1.

Why it matters for households

A charger warranty is part of a home's energy independence: a wallbox that fails outside cover is a repair bill and a period without home charging. The statement ties cover to how the unit was installed and maintained, so the paperwork and the identity of the installer carry weight years after the work is done. It also ties cover to the charger's connection to Pod Point servers, which matters where a household's Wi-Fi or mobile signal at the charger is weak. The 60 month period applies to the Solo 3S only; the statement does not set out terms for other Pod Point products, and no comparison with other manufacturers' warranty lengths appears in it. Wider context on cover terms across brands sits in EV charge point warranties and aftercare and manufacturer warranties on home energy equipment.

What happens next

The statement applies to Solo 3S units purchased or hired on or after 21 May 20251. No end date for the statement is given in the document text, and no further changes have been reported1.
