Three Grant Aerona air source heat pump products were approved under ECO4 innovation measure 037, with the date of approval given as 16/05/20251. The approvals appear in Ofgem's register of approved innovation measures, published as version 1.17 in February 20261.
The register lists innovation measures approved under both ECO3 and ECO4, and records for each the date of approval, whether the uplift is standard or substantial, and the products that meet the description1. Ofgem states that once an application for a product to be delivered as an innovation measure is approved, it must publish a description of the measure, the approval date and whether it is a standard or substantial innovation measure1. The purpose given is to allow other obligated suppliers delivering measures meeting an innovation measure description to notify them as an innovation measure, and to let suppliers and the supply chain see what has already been approved1.
The register sets out installation requirements that apply to all innovation measures. These must be installed in accordance with PAS 2030:2023 or MCS standards and PAS 2035:2023, unless approved as certified by an organisation accredited to ISO/IEC 17065:20121. All innovation measures must be lodged with TrustMark, or an equivalent, and delivered by TrustMark-registered, or equivalent, businesses1. They must also be installed in accordance with Building Regulations and any relevant Agrément certificate listed under the product entry1.
Ofgem states that approval of an innovation measure does not confirm that installation methods, processes and designs are fully compliant with the latest requirements defined in the relevant PAS and related guidance1. It adds that the Retrofit Coordinator overseeing a project and the installers are responsible for ensuring innovation measures are installed in accordance with required standards and ECO requirements1. The evidence requirements set out in version 1.17 are described as being in draft form and subject to change in future versions1.
The register also records withdrawals of products from other measures. For innovation measure 002, under floor insulation, the Q-Bot BBA certificate has been withdrawn, and from 28/01/25 there are no products that meet the description1. For innovation measure 004, external wall insulation, the Instaclad BBA certificate has been withdrawn, and from 07/11/25 there are no products that meet the description1.

Why it matters for households
ECO4 is the current Energy Company Obligation scheme, under which obligated energy suppliers fund energy efficiency measures in homes1. Innovation measures are products or processes approved for delivery under the scheme outside the standard list of measures, and the register exists so that suppliers and installers can see what has been approved and when1.
For a household, the practical effect of a product appearing on the register is that it can be delivered as an innovation measure under ECO4, subject to the installation and lodgement requirements above1. The register does not itself set out which households qualify, what funding is available, or what a particular installation would cost. Those details are not in this document.
The register also shows that approvals are not permanent. Two measures listed in the same document have no products meeting their description following the withdrawal of the relevant BBA certificates, one from 28/01/25 and one from 07/11/251. That means a product's presence on the register at a given date is a statement about that date, not a guarantee of continued availability.
What happens next
The document is version 1.17, dated February 2026, and states that the evidence requirements within it are in draft form and may change in future versions1. No further approval dates for Grant Aerona products beyond 16/05/2025 are given in the register.
