Andersen launched the A3 home charger in May 2024, the British manufacturer has confirmed, describing it as carrying a seven-year warranty that covers the charger and all ancillary parts1. The company says this is the longest warranty available with any home charge point1. The A3 is the successor to the A2 and is made at Andersen's facility in Stewartby, Bedfordshire1.
The charger offers charging speeds up to 7kW and a choice of more than 240 colour options, plus a custom colour palette service that allows a unit to be colour-matched to an item chosen by the customer1. It has LED status indication, a presence sensor, a convenience light on the underside of the unit, and "theatre lighting" that comes on when the lid is lifted1. Andersen states that the A3 and the earlier A2 are the only home chargers to feature a cable and plug that are hidden away when not in use1. Full specifications, finishes and warranty terms are set out in the guide to the Andersen A3 charger, and the wider range is covered under Andersen designer EV chargers.
Andersen reported a 175% increase in turnover for the financial year 2023/2024, to over £3.7m, with revenues in the first seven months of 2024 up by 10.72% on the same period in 2023 and gross profit up by 41.55%1. The company said production of the A3 coming fully on-stream at Stewartby had helped it meet demand, and that most customer orders can now be fulfilled within two weeks of being placed, depending on the level of bespoke customisation1. It also said it is the preferred supplier to premium carmakers including JLR and Porsche GB1.
"We launched the new Andersen A3 home charger in May 2024 with many advanced features and with the styling to meet the needs and expectations of the most discerning customers."
The A3 was recognised in the What Car? home EV charging review for 2024, scoring four stars out of five and ranking fourth overall, while scoring highest overall for installation satisfaction and joint highest for ease of use1. In June 2024 it won a Platinum award in the London Design Awards "Product Design" category1. Andersen says it is the only charge point provider to hold 4.9 stars out of 5 on Trustpilot, and that its installation service has attained Which? Trusted Trader status1. Customers who have the unit installed by a third party also receive the warranty, the company states1. Warranty terms across the market are compared in the guide to EV charge point warranties and aftercare, and manufacturer cover more broadly in manufacturer warranties on home energy equipment.
Why it matters for households
For a household weighing up a home charge point, the A3's headline claim is warranty length: seven years covering the charger and ancillary parts, against the shorter periods typical of the sector1. A longer warranty shifts part of the risk of a fault away from the owner for the life of the unit, though the terms themselves, and what counts as ancillary parts, are what determine the cover in practice1. Charging at up to 7kW suits a single-phase home supply and overnight charging rather than rapid top-ups1. The colour and finish options, including colour-matching, are a cosmetic choice rather than a technical one, and the hidden cable and plug affect how the unit looks on a wall when idle1. Andersen's stated two-week fulfilment for most orders, subject to customisation, is a delivery timescale rather than an installation one, and no installation lead times are given1. The company's figures on EV sales and off-street parking are its own estimates and are not broken down by region1.
