ev.energy introduced Smart Schedule in its EV charging app on 7 March 2022, allowing a separate charging schedule for each day of the week rather than a single ready by time1. The feature is rolling out to all ev.energy app users on iOS and Android1.
The company said the change reflects the way weekly routines differ from weekends. Smart Schedule lets a driver set a customised charging schedule for each day, and where no ready by time is set, it defaults to 7am1. Setup is done in the Smart Tab of the app, by tapping "Full schedule" and editing the times for each day1.
Smart charging behaviour is unchanged underneath the schedule. ev.energy said it will prioritise charging during the energy tariff's off-peak period, or, for drivers with an ev.energy SOLAR subscription, when home solar is generating1. Drivers without an off-peak period or solar can still earn smart charging rewards for each 10kWh charge, which the company says can be spent on Amazon vouchers and carbon offset credits1.
A second feature, Override Schedule, allows one-off ready by times without altering the weekly schedule1. The app also offers battery preconditioning, bringing the battery to an optimum temperature for a set time while still plugged in, which ev.energy says preserves battery for driving and gives more mileage per charge, particularly in winter1.

A schedule that matches the days the car is actually needed gives a home charger more room to move the bulk of its demand into cheaper overnight windows, rather than charging to a single fixed deadline every day. For a household with solar, the same scheduling logic decides whether charging follows the sun or the tariff.
