Andersen EV units purchased on or after 14 May 2024 carry a 7 year warranty

Andersen EV has changed its warranty terms so that charge points purchased on or after 14 May 2024 carry a seven year guarantee, against three years for units bought before that date¹. The maker states the position on its warranty terms page: "Andersen EV Units purchased on or after 14/05/2024 come with a 7 year warranty. Any unit purchased before that date will be covered by a 3 year warranty."¹

The length of cover depends on who installed the unit and how it was funded, not only on the purchase date. Charge points and ancillary items installed by an Andersen installer, and where applicable benefiting from a grant under the OZEV Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme, are guaranteed for seven years and include on-site parts and labour¹. Units installed by Andersen affiliate partners qualify for seven years on a return-to-base basis, meaning the householder covers the cost of returning the goods¹. Activation is a condition of the seven year cover: the warranty activation process must be completed no later than seven days from installation or 30 days from purchase¹. The guarantee becomes effective from the date of installation or within 30 days of the delivery date, whichever is earlier, and proof of purchase is required before any work is carried out¹. It is valid for the original purchaser at the originally installed address and location only, and transfers to a new address only if the charge point is removed and re-installed by an Andersen installer, with OZEV informed of the change where a grant applied¹. Exclusions include normal wear and tear, accidental damage, damage from floods, lightning, outages or power surges, faults in the existing electrical installation such as consumer units, breakers or cables, and repairs by parties other than Andersen or its authorised agents¹. Andersen also states that Muller EV Ltd, trading as Andersen EV, went into administration in October 2022 and that certain assets were taken over by Andersen EV Plc, with no contractual warranty support for units purchased before October 24, 2022¹.
