Hypervolt started releasing version 5.1 of its mobile app in the week of 16 January 2024, the company said in a post dated 16 January 20241. The update adds a direct PDF download of the energy consumption report and a troubleshooting section in Charger Settings, and follows the version 5 app released in November 20231.
The consumption report itself is not new. Hypervolt said the ability to generate an energy consumption report and receive it by email was launched in summer 2023, and that customer feedback asked for a more direct way to get the data1. Version 5.1 allows the report to be downloaded as a PDF from the mobile app so it can be saved or shared immediately1. The new troubleshooting section runs tests to check whether communication is possible between the phone and the charger, and tells the user what to do if part of that link is not working1.

The app is available from the Google Play Store for Android and the Apple App Store1. Hypervolt has not reported the size of the update or which charger models can install it.
Why it matters for households
A charger app is the main interface between a household and its charging equipment, so what it can produce and diagnose affects how far a driver can manage charging without calling an installer. A downloadable PDF consumption report gives a household a portable record of charging energy use, which can be kept alongside other household energy data or passed to a third party. The troubleshooting tests cover the link between phone and charger, which is the part of the chain a household can check itself; faults on the charger side or in the wider network are not covered by the description given1. Neither feature changes how much energy a charger draws or when it draws it. Households wanting to align charging with solar generation or a battery will need the scheduling changes still in beta, described below.
What happens next
Hypervolt said it is in the final stages of revamping how schedules are defined and applied to the local charger, allowing multi-mode scheduling to automate charging around solar panel and battery installations1. A closed beta is running with customers using Home 3.0 and Home 3 Pro devices, and Hypervolt expects to make the feature available for all Home 3.0 and Home 3 Pro devices within Q1 2024, with a plan to expand it to Home 2.0 devices later in the year1. The company also said it is improving its integration with OVO Energy to support that supplier's Charge Anytime tariff, and is working to integrate with other popular EV tariff providers later in 20241. No dates beyond those quarters have been reported.
