Sigenergy Technology Co., Ltd. has set out a factory limited warranty for its SigenStor equipment sold in Europe, covering hardware of electronics and enclosure against defects caused by improper workmanship or defective materials. The warranty table applies to covered products installed on or after 1 June 20231.
The product warranty periods are as follows1:
| Covered product | Warranty period (years) |
|---|---|
| SigenStor BAT 5.0/6.0/8.0/10.0 | 10 |
| SigenStor EC 3.0/3.6/4.0/4.6/5.0/6.0/8.0/10.0/12.0 SP | 10 |
| SigenStor EC 5.0/6.0/8.0/10.0/12.0/15.0/17.0/20.0/25.0/30.0 TP | 10 |
| SigenStor EVDC 12 5/7.5/10 S2, SigenStor EVDC 25 5/7.5/10 S2 | 3 |
| SigenStor BC | 10 |
Vulnerable parts, described in the document as "strips light in decorative cover", carry a two-year warranty period1.
A separate performance warranty covers the battery system retaining 60 per cent of usable energy for ten years after initial installation, or a minimum throughput energy, whichever comes first. The minimum throughput figures are 18.20 MWh for the SigenStor BAT 5.0, 20.44 MWh for the BAT 6.0, 27.30 MWh for the BAT 8.0 and 30.66 MWh for the BAT 10.01. Usable energy is stated as 5.2 kWh, 5.84 kWh, 7.8 kWh and 8.76 kWh respectively1.
The warranty start date is the earlier of the date the product is activated on site, or, where a product has not been installed, activated and registered on site within 180 days, the point set out in the document1. The warranty can be transferred from the original owner to the next owner only if the equipment remains installed at its initial location1.
One condition attaches to internet connectivity. To activate and maintain the ten-year limited warranty, the device must remain connected to the internet for essential firmware updates. The document states that the device enters Safe Operation Mode automatically when disconnected for more than 90 days, and that if it is disconnected for over one year cumulatively, warranty coverage adjusts to five years from the original activation date1.
"To activate and maintain SIGENERGY's 10-year limited warranty, your device must remain connected to the Internet for essential firmware updates."
Claims are made through a service ticket in the mySigen app, and the document states claims must be made within 30 days from the failure date, otherwise the right to claim is treated as abandoned1. Remedies are at Sigenergy's discretion and may include configuration changes, software updates, part replacement, a new unit, a factory-refurbished unit or an upgraded model of equivalent performance1. Labour, hardware materials and normal ground shipment costs are covered; travel and accommodation for on-site service, and costs such as compensation for lost generation during downtime, are not1.
Why it matters for households
For a household, the warranty is the document that determines who pays when a home battery or inverter fails, and for how long. A ten-year product term on the battery and inverter units is long relative to the three years given to the EVDC units, so the cover a home holds depends on which parts of the system it has. The performance warranty is expressed as a floor on retained capacity rather than a promise of output, and it is capped by throughput as well as time, so a heavily cycled battery can reach the end of its cover before ten years have passed.
The connectivity condition is the part with the clearest practical edge. A system kept offline for long enough moves to a reduced warranty term, and the document reserves the right to change technical specifications and operating parameters in Safe Operation Mode without prior notice1. For a home treating a battery as a route to energy independence, that ties part of the value of the asset to a working internet connection and to the manufacturer's software.
The exclusions also matter. Damage from installation that does not follow the instructions, from use that does not follow the user manual, from unauthorised third-party repair, or from transport and temperature excursions outside the stated range is not covered1. The document states that in some countries end users may receive an additional warranty promise from Sigenergy's local distributor, which should be at least equivalent to the manufacturer's warranty1.
What happens next
The document is dated 27 May 2025 and states that it may not be the latest version, directing readers to the Sigenergy global website for the current version1. No further dated steps are set out in the document.
