Dimplex published a product brochure for its Quantum high heat retention (HHR) storage heater range in July 2025. The document, reference GDHV2410-05, describes the range and states that "the information in this publication is correct at the time of publication"1.
The brochure describes Quantum as "a stylish, modern HHR storage heater that utilises a highly insulated core to retain the energy stored overnight from off-peak electricity"1. It says the heater's "dynamic, automatic charge and control algorithm first learns the occupant's usage and lifestyle, as well as the room's climate conditions", and that the controller then stores only the overnight energy needed for the following day's heating1. Dimplex states the range is "up to 27% cheaper to run than a standard storage heater system", citing a study by Dr John Councell, "Running Cost of Conventional Electric Space Heating Systems"1.
On controls, the brochure lists three customisable heating timers, "each with four time and temperature settings for each day of the week", a digitally controlled electronic thermostat "accurate to ±0.2°C", Boost mode and heat demand adjustment, Adaptive Start Technology and Open Window Detection1. A built-in RF module is fitted as standard, and the heater "can be controlled remotely using the Dimplex Control smartphone app when purchased together with the Dimplex Control Hub"1. The Hub is sold separately and connects heaters to the internet via Ethernet or Wi-Fi1.
On compliance and safety, the brochure states the range is "Lot 20 compliant for increased energy efficiency", "meets criteria for SAP High Heat Retention Storage Heater", is accredited to SAP appendix Q, and "received a BEAB Approved Mark, the highest safety standard achievable in the UK"1. It carries an IPX4 rating and a manufacturer guarantee of seven years, subject to registration1.

Why it matters for households
Quantum is designed to run on off-peak electricity, storing heat overnight in an insulated core and releasing it during the day. For a household already on an off-peak tariff, that shapes how much of its heating cost sits in the cheaper overnight window rather than in peak-rate daytime use. The brochure's claim of up to 27% lower running costs than a standard storage heater system is made against that comparison, not against gas heating or a heat pump1.
The controls described, including adaptive charge calculation, timers and Open Window Detection, are aimed at limiting how much energy is stored and used. Remote control and energy monitoring require the Dimplex Control Hub, which is sold separately, so the app functions described in the brochure are not available from the heater alone1.
