Grant UK announced on 4 October 2024 that the Mag One DUO magnetic filter is now available. The filter supersedes the Vortex Mag One filter previously supplied by the company and is described as a universal filter for central heating systems1.
The Mag One DUO is designed to protect both traditional boiler and air source heat pump systems by preventing the build up of non-ferrous debris and magnetite in the pipework1. It has a 12,000 gauss neodymium magnet and uses a 500-micron mesh gauze to maximise the capture of non-ferrous debris1. Grant UK states that the filter uses direct filtration rather than a bypass, so that 100% of the circulated water must pass through its filter cartridge, which it says increases filtration levels compared with the Vortex Mag One1. The unit also has a larger diameter internal waterway, which the company says reduces pressure drop through the filter1.
The filter is compatible with traditional fossil fuel systems, including oil-fired boilers, as well as low temperature air source heat pump systems, and Grant UK says it is compatible with all Aerona heat pump systems1. It can be installed as part of a new heating system or retrofitted to an existing one1.
