EDF Heat Pumps has launched a Heat Pump Promise under which it guarantees that an installed air source heat pump will meet agreed heating temperatures for one year from installation, or the customer receives a full refund1. The promise applies only to heat pump installations from 13 January 20251. The company also announced on 14 January 2025 that Which? Trusted Traders had listed EDF Heat Pumps as an approved service for air source heat pump installations1.
Under the promise, EDF Heat Pumps visits the property to assess it, advises on available air source heat pump options and determines the achievable temperatures for the home1. The guarantee covers the temperatures agreed with the customer following that assessment1.
"If we can't meet the promise, we'll attempt to resolve the issue three times, if the issue cannot be resolved, you'll receive a full refund."
To mark the Which? accreditation, EDF offered £500 off all air source heat pump installations for the first 50 customers signing up before 12 th February 20251. With that discount, EDF said a complete heat pump system installed to suit each property's requirements started from as low as £4,680 when applying the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant1. Finance options were also available1.
EDF also extended its Heat Pump and Power Tracker bundle, offering free electricity for the month of December 2025 alongside a 7-year warranty and service package, with savings of at least £1,500, for customers signing up to install an Ideal Heating heat pump with EDF Heat Pumps before 28 th February 20251.
On 3 April 2025 EDF announced a further tariff, the Heat Pump and Save Tracker, a one-year tariff with zero standing charges and no exit fees, available exclusively to customers installing an Ideal Heating air source heat pump through EDF Heat Pumps2. It provides six hours of discounted zero carbon electricity every day, in twice-daily windows between 4am and 7am and between 1pm and 4pm2. EDF said the tariff guarantees daily savings amounting to at least £360 a year, made up of £164 from running an air source heat pump with a coefficient of performance of 3.1 against a 94% gas boiler using 11,500 kWh of gas, and £196 from a 0p per day electricity standing charge based on the Q2 Ofgem price cap using a regional average2. The tariff was available to customers paying a deposit before 30th September 2025 and completing installation before 31st December 20252. EDF said the £500 discount would mean a heat pump system starting from £3,180 when applying the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant2. The two announcements give different starting prices, £4,680 in January1 and £3,180 in April2.
EDF Heat Pumps is the new identity for Clacton-based CB Heating, acquired by EDF in 2023, which EDF describes as one of the UK's leading MCS-certified air source heat pump installers with over 20 years' experience1.
Why it matters for households
A heat pump's running cost and comfort depend on the flow temperature it can hold in a given property, and on how the home is assessed beforehand. A guarantee tied to temperatures agreed at survey shifts part of that performance risk onto the installer for the first year, rather than leaving the household to absorb it. The refund route is defined: three attempts to resolve the issue, then a full refund if it cannot be resolved1. The tariff side matters because standing charges are paid regardless of how much electricity a home uses, so removing them lowers the fixed cost of an all-electric home, and the discounted windows reward running the heat pump outside peak hours.
