Uswitch's 10 Hours Electricity incentive is scheduled to run until 8 July 2026, according to the scheme's terms, unless the company extends it at its sole discretion1. Uswitch also reserves the right to close the incentive before that date, giving 24 hours notice1.
The incentive is operated by Uswitch Limited, registered in England and Wales with registered number 036126891. It is open to Uswitch customers who are UK residents aged 18 or over, and can be claimed once per household, email address or bank account1. Residents of the Channel Islands and Northern Ireland are not eligible1. To qualify, a customer must have connected their smart meter to their Uswitch account, downloaded the Uswitch app, and ensured the meter provides half-hourly readings within 14 days of the meter being connected1.
The credit is calculated from the user's highest consecutive 10 hours of electricity usage in the last 12 months of half-hourly data, or the data Uswitch holds if 12 months is not available, priced at their actual tariff rate1. Where tariff data is unavailable, Uswitch applies an Ofgem fallback of 24.67p/kWh1. For a two-rate tariff, the peak or day rate is used1. The incentive covers the cost of the kWh used only and excludes standing charges, which the customer still pays in full1. Uswitch credits the calculated cost up to a maximum of £10 per user, paid as earnings in the Uswitch App Earn Tab rather than as a reduction on the energy supplier bill or in-home display1. Users have up to 90 days to withdraw funds once they become available, after which the funds expire1.
"This Incentive will run until 8th July 2026, unless extended by Uswitch at its sole discretion."
The terms state the incentive cannot be claimed alongside other Uswitch incentives or offers, though users can still join the Uswitch App Power Hours scheme1. Uswitch may also offer the average amount earned by other users where it cannot obtain the required historical usage data1. The incentive is governed by English law1.
Why it matters for households
The scheme pays a one-off credit based on electricity a household has already used, rather than changing what a unit of electricity costs. Because the calculation uses the highest consecutive 10 hours in a year of half-hourly data, the amount depends on how much a home uses and when, and on the tariff rate applied. The £10 cap means the credit is limited regardless of usage, and standing charges are unaffected, so a household's fixed daily costs continue as before. The payment arrives as app earnings, not as a bill credit, so it does not appear on the supplier bill or in-home display. Eligibility depends on having a smart meter connected and reporting half-hourly, which ties the incentive to households already set up for time-of-use tariffs and half-hourly data. The terms exclude Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, so the offer does not apply across the whole UK.
What happens next
The incentive is scheduled to end on 8 July 2026 unless Uswitch extends it1. Uswitch may close it earlier with 24 hours notice1. Earnings become viewable shortly after the campaign concludes, once meter readings are received and the amount calculated, and must be withdrawn within 90 days of becoming available1. No further dates have been reported.
