Alpha launched the ProTec NX, a wall-hung high output gas boiler range, on 17 November 2023. The range replaces the former ProTec Plus and is offered in six models with outputs from 48kW to 180kW, for what the maker describes as larger domestic projects as well as commercial applications1.
The maker states the range carries a 1:10 modulation range, a stainless steel heat exchanger, a fully modulated built-in circulator pump and ultra-low NOx emissions, and is available with natural gas or LPG options and a warranty of up to 10 years1. Flueing options are concentric (room-sealed), open or twin, and the boiler is factory-fitted with a room-sealed "C" flue type configuration but is also compatible with "B23" or twin flue systems using the stub kit1. It can be wall-mounted or fixed to a freestanding low or ultra-low frame, and units can be cascaded to reach higher outputs1.
Alpha's technical manager, Darran Smith, said:
"All models are approved and certified for hydrogen blended gas when the network begins to offer it, to further reduce carbon levels towards the decarbonising goals."
On controls, the maker says the boiler control panel has an inbuilt option for setting programs, temperatures and zones, and that multiple boilers can be linked in cascade and driven from one "master" boiler using Alpha's smart commercial controls. Separate controls can also be used, with simple ON/OFF input or OpenTherm compatibility1. The range is weather compensation compatible1.
